One card, a few, or none

A bigger spread is not a more accurate one. The card count decides how much complexity this reading can carry; past that, it blurs.

Choose by how many parts your question has, not by mood.

Spread	Use it when	What it cannot carry
One card · Mirror	The question has one part, or you only want one angle. Good for a daily card.	It cannot hold a three-part situation. It picks one and the rest fall away.
Two cards · Scales	It is genuinely two things and you keep collapsing them into one. Each side gets a card of its own, read with the other set down.	If there is really only one option, it will manufacture a second. Do not use it to ratify a decision already made.
Three cards · Time flow	Something has an origin, a present and a direction. This is what most people actually want.	The third card is where the current runs, not how it turns out. It is not a forecast.
Do not draw	You have asked the same thing three times. The fourth will not give you something new — it will give you what you want.	That is not modesty. It is where the deck actually ends.

Count the parts of your question first, then pick the count. Do it the other way round and the surplus cards get forced into the story.
